The board of education of a city, exempted village, local, joint vocational, or cooperative education school district may adopt a policy authorizing the district superintendent or other district administrative personnel as provided in the policy to suspend a student only from school bus riding privileges for a period of time as provided in the policy. A policy adopted under this section shall provide a student notice of an intended suspension under the policy and an opportunity to appear before the district superintendent or other district personnel as provided in the policy before a suspension under the policy is imposed.
