§ 5-504 Preparation and filing of tentative budget. Upon receipt of\nthe estimates of the head of each administrative unit, the budget\nofficer shall prepare a tentative budget. He may also prepare a budget\nmessage explaining the main features of the budget and containing such\nadditional information as he may deem advisable. He shall furnish a copy\nof the tentative budget and the budget message, if any, to each member\nof the board of trustees and he shall reproduce for public distribution\nas many copies as he may deem necessary. On or before the twentieth day\nof March, or such other date as may be applicable pursuant to section\n5-510 of this article or section 17-1729 of article seventeen, he shall\nfile in the office of the village clerk the tentative budget, the budget\nmessage
