§ 393-A — Inspection of commercial motor vehicles exceeding ten thousand pounds manufacturers' gross vehicle weight rating

§ 393-a. Inspection of commercial motor vehicles exceeding ten\nthousand pounds manufacturers' gross vehicle weight rating. Any police\nofficer having lawfully stopped a commercial motor vehicle with a\nmanufacturers' gross vehicle weight rating in excess of ten thousand\npounds for the purpose of conducting a motor carrier safety inspection\nmay, when necessary to insure the safety of the officer, the vehicle\noccupants and the motoring public, require that the vehicle be driven to\nthe nearest safe inspection site designated by such officer. Such\nlocation designated by the police officer shall not exceed a distance of\nfive miles from the place where the vehicle was stopped.\n
