§ 189-i. Fire protection. The board of fire commissioners shall\nprovide fire protection throughout the entire district and for that\npurpose may accept the services of any volunteer fire department or\ncompany organized and operating within the village, or if the\ncommissioners are unable to provide such fire protection by volunteer\nservices, it may employ and fix the compensation of such firefighters as\nmay be necessary to provide such protection. Moneys, if any, paid to\nfirefighters shall be deemed a part of the cost of maintenance and\noperation of the district.\n
