§ 3402-a. Study for the modernization and revitalization of the Nassau\nhealth care corporation. 1. Study. The Nassau health care corporation\n(hereinafter referred to as "the corporation") shall review and examine\na variety of options to strengthen the Nassau University Medical Center\nand the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, and promote longer\nterm viability for its dual education and health care mission. The\ncorporation shall complete a study to prioritize health care services\nprovided in the Nassau University Medical Center service area, including\na reasonable, scalable and fiscally responsible plan for the financial\nhealth, viability and sustainability of the Nassau University Medical\nCenter and the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility. Such study\nshall be provided to the Nassau county interim finance authority no\nlater than December first, two thousand twenty-six. In conducting its\nstudy, the corporation shall consider the following factors:\n (a) overall health care service delivery trends and models;\n (b) historic and projected financials for the Nassau University\nMedical Center and the campus;\n (c) the current state of building infrastructure and capital needs;\n (d) community health care needs, outcomes, and health disparities;\n (e) existing inpatient and outpatient service offerings and health\noutcomes;\n (f) capacity and availability of inpatient and outpatient services in\nthe broader primary and secondary service areas;\n (g) efficiency of operations and quality of health care services\nbenchmarking; and\n (h) training needs for students and employment outcomes.\n 2. Outreach. The corporation shall solicit input and recommendations\nfrom health care experts, county health departments, community-based\norganizations, state and regional health care industry associations,\nlabor unions, experts in hospital operations, and other interested\nparties.\n
