§ 1398. Separability. If any clause, sentence, paragraph, part or\nprovision of this title shall for any reason be adjudged by a court of\ncompetent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional, ineffective or invalid,\nsuch judgment shall not affect, impair or invalidate the remainder of\nthis title, but shall be confined in its operation to the clause,\nsentence, paragraph, part or provision thereof directly involved in the\ncontroversy in which such judgment shall have been rendered.\n
