§ 40-a. Manufacture and sale of outboard motors. No outboard motor\nmanufactured after January first, nineteen hundred eighty shall be sold\nor offered for commercial sale by a dealer in this state unless such\nmotor shall have permanently engraved thereon by the manufacturer an\nidentifying serial number. Such serial mark shall be of a permanent\nnature so as to prevent or discourage the removal, defacing, alteration\nor destruction thereof. Anyone violating the provisions of this section\nshall be guilty of a violation punishable by a fine of not less than one\nhundred nor more than two hundred fifty dollars.\n
