§ 251. Agreements between municipal corporations.
1.Two or more\nmunicipal corporations may by agreement provide for discharge by the\npolice department of one of them, on behalf of the other or others, of\nthe duties provided in subdivisions three, four, five, six, seven and\neight of section two hundred fifty-three of the personal property law\nand in sections two hundred fifty-four, two hundred fifty-five and two\nhundred fifty-six of such law, with respect to property or instruments\ndeposited with the police of such other municipal corporation or\ncorporations and may designate a police officer or other public officer\nof one of such municipal corporations as the person to whom such\nproperty and instruments shall be transmitted as provided in subdivision\ntwo of such section two h

§ 251. Agreements between municipal corporations. 1. If pursuant to such\nagreement property or instruments deposited with the police of a\nmunicipal corporation are transmitted, together with the reports of the\npersons who deposited them, to a police officer or other official of\nanother municipal corporation, the police of that municipal corporation\nshall, with respect to such property or instrument, be deemed the police\nwith whom the property or instrument was deposited and the police having\ncustody of the property or instrument for the purposes of subdivisions\nthree, four, five, six, seven, and eight of section two hundred\nfifty-three of the personal property law and for the purposes of\nsections two hundred fifty-four, two hundred fifty-five, two hundred\nfifty-six, and two hundred fifty-eight of such law.\n 2. Such agreement may also provide for payment to the municipal\ncorporation by whom such duties are to be discharged, by the municipal\ncorporation on whose behalf they are so discharged, of such amount or\namounts as may be agreed in reimbursement of or otherwise on account of\nexpense incurred in the discharge of such duties.\n 3. Such agreement may also provide that the police of municipal\ncorporations on whose behalf such duties are to be discharged shall make\nand keep records of reports and deposits of found property and found\ninstruments, and of receipts given therefor, in such manner and by use\nof such forms as shall be specified by the police of the municipal\ncorporation to whose police the property and instruments are to be\ntransmitted.\n 4. If incorporated in a resolution of the governing board of a\nmunicipal corporation on whose behalf such duties are to be discharged,\nsuch agreement may also provide that rules and regulations enacted\npursuant to section two hundred fifty of this chapter by the governing\nboard of the municipal corporation by whose police such duties are to be\nperformed shall be applicable to property or instruments found, or of\nwhich possession is acquired, within the jurisdiction of the municipal\ncorporation on whose behalf such duties are to be performed. A\nresolution of a municipal corporation on behalf of whom such duties are\nto be performed, incorporating an agreement so providing, shall be\ndeemed an enactment of the rules and regulations so made applicable as\nrules and regulations of the municipal corporation on whose behalf such\nduties are to be performed.\n
