§ 239-r. General obligations. A commission on human rights created\nunder the provisions of section two hundred thirty-nine-o of this\narticle shall discharge the following obligations.
(a)To receive\ncomplaints of alleged discrimination because of an individual's age,\nrace, creed, color or national origin, sexual orientation, gender\nidentity or expression, military status, marital status, sex,\ndisability, predisposing genetic characteristics, familial status,\nmarital status or domestic violence victim status, to seek the active\nassistance of the division of human rights in the solution of complaints\nwhich fall within the jurisdiction of the division and to prepare its\nown plans in the case of other complaints with a view to reducing and\neliminating such alleged discrimination t
