§ 538-b. Definitions. For the purposes of this article:\n (a) the term "hijack", with respect to a modem or internet-capable\ndevice, means taking control of the modem or the modem-function of a\nuser's computer or internet-capable device to initiate a toll telephone\ncall via a telecommunications network, a voice over internet protocol,\nor other internet communication for which the authorized user or\nprovider pays a monetary charge.\n (b) the term "authorized user" with respect to a computer or\ninternet-capable device, means a person who is authorized by the owner\nor lessee to use the computer or internet-capable device.\n (c) the term "internet-capable device" means any hardware technology\nincluding, but not limited to, a cellular telephone, handheld computer,\nor calendaring a
