§ 251. Medical examinations.
(a)After the filing of a petition under\nthis act over which the family court appears to have jurisdiction, the\ncourt may order any person within its jurisdiction and the parent or\nother person legally responsible for the care of any child within its\njurisdiction to be examined by a physician, psychiatrist or psychologist\nappointed or designated for that purpose by the court when such an\nexamination will serve the purposes of this act, the court may remand\nany such person for physical or psychiatric examination to, or direct\nsuch person to appear for such examination at:\n (1) the department of health of the city of New York, if the court is\nlocated in a county within the city of New York, or\n (2) a hospital maintained by the county in which the c
