§ 134. Eligibility for office. No person, other than one who holds\nsuch office on the effective date of this act may serve in the office of\njudge of the family court unless he or she has been admitted to practice\nlaw in the state of New York for at least ten years as of the date he or\nshe commences the duties of office.\n
