§ 216-A — Scientific crime detection laboratory

§ 216-a. Scientific crime detection laboratory. 1. The superintendent\nmay maintain a scientific crime detection laboratory, and may appoint,\nemploy or assign a director thereof, and such additional members or\nemployees as he may deem necessary for the proper maintenance and\noperation of such scientific crime detection laboratory, within the\nappropriation. The superintendent may also employ, from time to time,\nwithin the appropriation, such skilled experts, scientists, technicians\nor other specially qualified persons as he deems necessary to aid the\nNew York state police and the laboratory in preventing or detecting\ncrime, apprehending criminals, or preparing and presenting evidence of\nviolations of the criminal laws of the state.\n 2. The superintendent may, from time to time, establish headquarters\nor stations in such localities of the state as he shall deem most\nsuitable for the efficient operation of the laboratory.\n
