§ 196. Statewide uniformity.

1.Notwithstanding the provisions of any\nother general, special or local law, the commissioner may, in order to\nsecure uniform regulation of weights and measures throughout the state,\nreverse, modify or annul in whole or in part any rule, regulation,\ndirection, order, ordinance, local law or other provision adopted by any\nmunicipality which contravenes or is inconsistent with the provisions of\nthis article or any rules and regulations promulgated by the\ncommissioner.\n 2. The order of the commissioner affecting any such municipal\nprovision shall state the date on which it takes effect and a copy\nthereof, duly signed by the commissioner, shall be filed as a public\nrecord in the state department of agriculture and markets.\n
