§ 44-0103. Definitions.\n As used in this article, the following words and terms shall have the\nfollowing meanings unless the context indicates another or different\nmeaning or intent:\n 1. "Countryside" shall mean the cities, towns and villages within the\ngreenway which do not border the Hudson river.\n 6. "Greenway criteria" or "criteria" shall mean natural and cultural\nresource protection, regional planning, economic development, public\naccess and heritage environmental education identified as the basis for\nattaining the goal of a Hudson river valley greenway.\n 7. "Greenway" shall mean the area designated as the Hudson river\nvalley greenway pursuant to section 44-0109 of this article.\n 8. "Greenway districts" or "districts" shall mean areas made of\nneighboring communities within the greenway and designated by the\ncouncil for the purpose of regional planning.\n 9. "Greenway trail" or "trail" means the trail established pursuant to\nsection 44-0121 of this article.\n 10. "Participating community" shall mean a county, city, town or\nvillage which has adopted the regional plan for its district pursuant to\nsection 44-0119 of this article.\n 11. "Riverside" shall mean the cities, towns and villages within the\ngreenway which border the Hudson river and shall include the city of New\nYork, with respect to areas of Bronx and New York counties designated\npursuant to section 44-0109 of this article.\n 12. "Chief elected official of a county" shall mean the county\nexecutive, or if there is none, the chairman of the board of\nsupervisors, or if there is neither, any other officers possessing\nsimilar powers and duties.\n 13. "Fund" shall mean the Hudson river valley greenway fund\nestablished in section ninety-seven-n of the state finance law.\n
