§ 500-e. Reading matter; divine service. Each keeper shall provide a\nbible to be kept in each room of the jail in his charge, and he shall\npermit the persons therein confined to be supplied with other suitable\nand proper books and papers, and if practicable, he shall cause divine\nservice to be conducted for the benefit of the prisoners, at least once\neach Sunday, if there shall be room in the prison that may be safely\nused for that purpose.\n
