§ 217-a. Qualification for employment as a county correction officer.\nA county may adopt the provisions contained in section twenty-two-a of\nthe correction law relating to qualifications of its officials who may\nthereafter be appointed in a law enforcement capacity in any of its\npenal correctional institutions. Any determination that would otherwise\nbe made by the commissioner or his or her designee of the department of\ncorrections and community supervision under the provisions of section\ntwenty-two-a of the correction law, shall, if such provisions are so\nadopted, be made by the appointing authority for such officials.\n
