§ 140. Saving clause.
1.The provisions of this chapter or the repeal\nof any statute thereby, shall not affect or impair any act done or right\naccrued or acquired, or any liability, penalty, forfeiture or punishment\nincurred or defense accrued, or established prior to its enactment. If\nany clause, sentence, paragraph or part of this chapter shall, for any\nreason, be adjudged by any court of competent jurisdiction to be\ninvalid, such judgment shall not affect, impair or invalidate the\nremainder thereof, but shall be confined in its operation to the clause,\nsentence, paragraph or part thereof, directly involved in the\ncontroversy in which such judgment shall have been rendered.\n 2.
