§ 1202. Special proceeding for escheat. Whenever it shall appear,\nafter investigation by the comptroller or otherwise, that there exists\nor may exist escheated property under this article, the attorney-general\nmay institute a special proceeding in the name of the people of the\nstate of New York for an adjudication that an escheat to the state of\nsuch property has occurred, and he shall take appropriate action to\nrecover such funds or property.\n
