As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires: 1. “Agricultural police officer” means a person appointed by the Director pursuant to NRS 561.225 who has the powers of a peace officer pursuant to NRS 289.290 . 2. “Animals” means:

(a)All cattle or animals of the bovine species except dairy breed calves under the age of 1 month.
(b)All horses, mules, burros and asses or animals of the equine species.
(c)All swine or animals of the porcine species.
(d)Alternative livestock as defined in NRS 501.003 . 3. “Brand inspection” means a careful visual examination of each animal offered for such inspection and a visual examination of any brands, marks or other characteristics thereon. 4. “Department” means the State Department of Agriculture. 5. “Director” means the Director of th
