district property] The wilful destruction, injury or removal of any bench marks, witness marks, stakes or other reference marks, placed by the surveyors or engineers or by contractors in constructing the works of the district, shall be a misdemeanor, punishable by fine not exceeding one hundred ($100) dollars. The original field notes of surveys shall be the permanent property of the district.
