§ 21-11-8 — Powers and duties of board of regents

The board of regents shall have power and it shall be their [its] duty to enact bylaws, rules and regulations for the government of such school of mines [New Mexico institute of mining and technology], not inconsistent with the laws of the state; and they [it] shall also prescribe the textbooks to be used, the course of study, the fields of research to be engaged in, the branches to be taught, the number of departments into which said school [institute] shall be divided and to change the same from time to time; to fix the scholastic year, provide apparatus, mineral and geological cabinets, to establish and operate branches of said school [institute] in such place or places in the state of New Mexico as may be designated by said board, and do all and everything necessary in and about the pr
