Text

All leases issued under the provisions of this act [19-10-1, 19-10-12 to 19-10-25 NMSA 1978] shall be assignable in whole or in part; provided, however, that no assignment of an undivided interest in the lease or any part thereof, or any assignment of less than a legal subdivision shall be recognized or approved by the commissioner. The term "legal subdivision" as used in this act shall be construed in its ordinary sense as used and recognized in the general land office of the United States and in the state land office of New Mexico. The assignments provided for herein shall be executed and acknowledged in the manner prescribed for conveyance of real estate in this state and shall be filed in triplicate in the office of the commissioner who shall retain two copies of the said assignment in
