9:11-3. The board of trustees organized under section 9:11-1 of this Title may acquire lands by gift, purchase or condemnation and erect buildings thereon suitable for the detention of persons, male or female, under 18 years of age adjudged delinquent, or convicted of violating a criminal statute, or detained to testify in a pending criminal prosecution or under commitment for appearance in the Superior Court, Chancery Division, Family Part pending final hearing of any cause. The board of trustees with the approval of the board of chosen freeholders may select for a building site land owned by the county and not already devoted to other purposes inconsistent with the establishment of a youth house thereon.
