a.In order to oversee the performance of its duties, the board shall appoint an executive director, who shall be the chief executive officer of the corporation. The executive director shall perform the duties of office on a full-time basis, shall hold office at the pleasure of the board and shall receive such salary as the board shall provide.
b.The executive director shall, subject to the approval of the board, appoint such employees, officers or agents as the board shall deem necessary without reference to political party affiliation, solely on grounds of fitness to perform their duties. The employees of the corporation shall receive such compensation as shall from time to time be fixed by the corporation within the limits of available appropriations therefor. L. 1987, c. 58, s. 8.
