3.There is established the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman. For the purposes of complying with the provisions of Article V, Section IV, paragraph 1 of the New Jersey Constitution, the Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman is hereby allocated to the Department of the Treasury, but, notwithstanding this allocation, the ombudsperson shall be independent of any supervision or control by the department or by any board or officer thereof. As of the effective date of P.L.2017, c.131 the Office of the Ombudsman for the Institutionalized Elderly, or the ombudsman thereof, shall be named the Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman or the ombudsman thereof.
