§ 5:5-77 — Appointment of persons with police powers, duties and liabilities; terms; compensation

In addition thereto said commission may appoint four persons, each of whom, upon being certified by the chairman of the commission to the Secretary of State as such appointee, shall take oath before the Secretary of State to discharge the duties of his position. Such persons, upon appointment and qualification, shall have and possess all the powers, duties and liabilities of police officers in cities, towns, townships and boroughs, in the making of arrests and the execution of criminal processes, the enforcement of all the laws of the State and of the provisions of this act. Such persons, when appointed, shall hold their positions or employment at the pleasure of the commission or for such terms as the commission may fix or determine. Their compensation shall be such sum as may be agreed upon between the commission and the licensees or permittees authorized or licensed to hold race meetings under the provisions of this act and be paid by such licensees or permittees. Such persons may be assigned to such duties as the commission may, in its discretion, deem necessary and such persons shall be responsible to no one in the conduct of their duties except the Racing Commission.
