44:7-1. As used in this chapter: "Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Human Services. "State board" means the State Board of Human Services. "State division" means the bureau of assistance as set up within the Department of Human Services. "Director of old age assistance" means the chief of the State bureau of assistance. "Director of welfare" means the director of the county welfare board. "County welfare board" means the boards established within the several counties for the purposes of administering welfare to the needy, whether set up under the authority of this chapter or pursuant to any other laws of this State. "Assistance" means money payments to or on behalf of eligible persons. "Old age assistance" means assistance to aged needy persons as provided by this chapter, and, unles
