§ 43:15A-66 — Effective date of participation
New Jersey·Title 43 PENSIONS AND RETIREMENT AND UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION
(a)If the employer shall so consent to the enrollment of its employees and the board of trustees shall so approve, participation in the retirement system shall become effective on the date fixed by such board, but not later than 6 months following such approval by the board of trustees of the retirement system. In such event, all service rendered to the employer by its employees previous to the effective date of such participation or previous to July 1, 1966, whichever is earlier, shall be credited to its employees who file application for membership within 1 year from such effective date, and such credit to its employees shall be known as prior service credit, and the obligation of the employer on account of such credit shall be known as the accrued liability.
