§ 40A:12-36 — Notice; procedures

a. Upon receiving the list of in rem properties in the municipality pursuant to section 5 of this act, the urban homesteading agency shall publish at least twice a notice in a newspaper having general circulation in the county in which the property which is suitable for rehabilitation is available. The notice shall contain the following information: (1) that certain in rem property is available for acquisition; (2) that in order to be considered eligible to acquire the property, applicants must fulfill criteria which are set forth in the notice; (3) the procedures for applying for an urban homestead; and (4) the deadline for submitting the application. The second notice shall be published not less than two weeks before the application deadline. b. Within 30 days after the application deadline, the urban homesteading agency shall recommend to the governing body the transfer of in rem property to qualified applicants who have demonstrated their ability to acquire the necessary financial and technical resources to rehabilitate, own and manage urban homestead property under the terms and conditions set forth in section 4 of this act and under any other conditions determined by the homesteading agency.
