Text
A petition in writing signed by not less than twenty per cent of the electors appearing on the registry list at the previous general election shall be filed with the municipal clerk, requesting that the governing body of such municipality request the county clerk to place upon the general election ballot to be used in such municipality at the next general election the following question: "Shall the municipality (name of municipality) abandon its organization under the municipal manager form of government under subtitle 5 of the title Municipalities and Counties of the Revised Statutes (s. 40:79-1 et seq.), and resume the form of government under the law under which it was being governed when the municipal manager form of government was adopted?"
