Any such local improvement may be undertaken as a separate and distinct work or in connection with the creation of a parking authority pursuant to the parking authority law (P.L.1948, c. 198), or in the furtherance of any project of a parking authority heretofore or hereafter created by the municipality pursuant to said parking authority law. L.1949, c. 261, p. 828, s. 2.
