7.Any person convicted of violating any of the provisions of this act shall for the first offense be liable to a penalty not exceeding twenty-five dollars ($25.00) and for any subsequent offense shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding fifty dollars ($50.00). A civil action for the recovery of a penalty for the violation of any of the provisions of this act may be instituted and the penalty recovered either in the Superior Court or before the municipal court of any municipality. Jurisdiction to hear and determine actions under this act is hereby conferred upon the said courts. L.1938,c.82,s.7; amended 1953, c.5, s.3; 1991,c.91,s.156.
