§ 34:15E-3 — Definitions.

3. As used in this act: "Apprenticeship Policy Committee" or "committee" means the New Jersey Apprenticeship Policy Committee which: a. Was established by a written agreement of: the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training in the U.S. Department of Labor; the State Department of Labor and Workforce Development; and the State Department of Education; and b. Consists of: the Assistant Commissioner, State Department of Education, Division of Adult and Occupational Education; the Director of Region II of the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training in the U.S. Department of Labor; an assistant commissioner of the State Department of Labor and Workforce Development; and a representative of the New Jersey State AFL-CIO. "Apprenticeship program" means a registered apprenticeship program providing to each trainee combined classroom and on-the-job training under the direct and close supervision of a highly skilled worker in an occupation recognized as an apprenticeable trade, and registered by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training of the U.S. Department of Labor and meeting the standards established by the bureau, or registered by a State apprenticeship agency recognized by the bureau. "Labor demand occupation" means an occupation for which there is or is likely to be an excess of demand over supply for adequately trained workers, including, but not limited to, an occupation designated as a labor demand occupation by the New Jersey Occupational Information Coordinating Committee pursuant to section 12 of P.L.1992, c.43 (C.34:1A-78). "Youth Transitions to Work Partnership" or "Partnership" means the Youth Transitions to Work Partnership established pursuant to section 4 of this act. L.1993, c.268, s.3; amended 2007, c.39, s.15.
