Text
The commissioner shall be appointed by the Governor, after consultation with the State board, with the advice and consent of the Senate, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor during the Governor's term of office and until the appointment and qualification of the commissioner's successor. The commissioner shall receive such salary as shall be provided by law. He shall devote his entire time to the performance of his duties. Appointment of a commissioner shall not be restricted to residents of the State. Amended by L.1948, c. 87, p. 497, s. 2; L.1971, c. 384, s. 4, eff. Jan. 5, 1972.
