Whenever a State, county or municipal highway or road shall be closed for any reason, either continuously or during certain hours, to vehicular traffic over a period of 48 hours or longer, necessitating the interruption of the flow of any or all traffic by detour, rerouting or diversion, the governing body or agency closing the highway or road shall cause the erection and maintenance of signs at such points at or near the affected area as it deems advisable, at least 72 hours in advance of the closing. The signs shall name the highway or road to be closed and the anticipated dates and times of closing. This information shall also be sent in writing by the governing body or agency at least 1 week prior to the closing to the municipality wherein the affected highway or road is located. L.198
