2.Whenever a dead body is transported from outside the State into this State for burial or other final disposition in this State, the person in charge of any premises in which the interment or cremation of such dead body is made, shall make due and diligent inquiry in order to determine whether the deceased person to be interred or cremated was a veteran of any war or was a member of the American Merchant Marine who served during World War II and has been declared by the United States Department of Defense to be eligible for federal veterans' benefits, and if so, the war in which said deceased veteran served. If such interment is made in a cemetery or burial ground having no person in charge thereof, then the undertaker making the interment of such dead body shall make such inquiry. On or
