18A:4-21. The Commissioner of Education shall be appointed by the Governor, without regard to residence within or without the State, with the advice and consent of the Senate, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor during the Governor's term of office and until his successor is appointed and qualified. He shall receive such annual salary as shall from time to time be fixed by law, which shall be payable as other state salaries are paid. L.1967, c.271; Amended 1990,c.13,s.1.
