1.As used in this act: "Benefit contract" means an agreement for provision of benefits authorized by section 16 of this act, as that agreement is described in subsection a. of section 18 of this act. "Benefit member" means an adult member who is designated by the laws or rules of the society to be a benefit member under a benefit contract. "Certificate" means the document issued as written evidence of a benefit contract. "Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Banking and Insurance. "Department" means the Department of Banking and Insurance. "Laws" means the society's articles of incorporation, constitution and bylaws, however designated. "Lodge" means a subordinate member unit of the society, known as a camp, court, council, branch or by any other designation. "Premiums" means premiums,
