12. a. An applicant for an initial license or for a renewal of a license as a mortgage loan originator, transitional mortgage loan originator, or a qualified individual licensee shall, as a licensing requirement, be registered and assigned a unique identifier through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. b.

(1)In order to ensure compliance by an applicant with this registration requirement, the commissioner shall utilize, as required or permitted by the "Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008," title V of Pub.L.110-289 (12 U.S.C. s.5101 et seq.) and as otherwise deemed appropriate by the commissioner, the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry.
