The hazardous material discharge training program shall be designed to enable its participants to competently: a. Verify if a hazardous material discharge has occurred; b. Identify the type and amount of the hazardous material; c. Insure timely notification of the discharge incident to the appropriate municipal, county and State officials; d. Know the responsibilities of municipal, county and State organizations in dealing with hazardous materials; e. Know the appropriate precautions to safeguard the public health and safety until specialized hazardous material response personnel arrive; and f. Communicate the required notification information to all other municipal representatives who may potentially receive the initial call regarding a hazardous material discharge. L. 1987, c. 220, s. 2.
