Text

The governor and council, upon the recommendation of the adjutant general, may pay claims against the state arising out of accidents occasioned by the activities of the national guard or arising out of claims brought against the department of military affairs and veterans services. No claim in excess of $1,000 shall be paid to any one person, nor shall any claim be paid hereunder which is payable in whole or in part by the United States. Persons making claims hereunder shall file their applications with the adjutant general who shall investigate the circumstances and shall make a recommendation thereon to the governor and council. Any claims paid hereunder shall be a charge upon the appropriation therefor in the department of military affairs and veterans services.
