Text
The boards of county commissioners in their respective counties have the sole authority
and responsibility to acquire land for, construct, maintain, and operate the county road system
as designated and selected by them. If a board of county commissioners determines a local
road meets the criteria in section 24-05-16 and is under the jurisdiction of the township, the
board of county commissioners shall notify the township of its intention to add the road to the
county system. The board of county commissioners shall hold a public meeting to receive input
on the county's intention to add the road to the county system. Following the public meeting, the
board of county commissioners shall make a decision at its subsequent scheduled meeting
regarding adding the road to the county system.
