Text
The department may, if in the opinion of the director, the public interest and the preservation
of the state highways from deterioration requires it, do the work necessary for minor grading
reconstruction on any state highway without letting a contract for such reconstruction work, or
the director may contract with the county in which any such reconstruction project is located, to
perform such reconstruction work on a cost basis. Any such reconstruction projects may include
any project that is eligible for federal aid. Any funds available for highway reconstruction
purposes may be expended in carrying out the provisions of this section.
