81-5-112 . Permit system for transportation of sheep -- penalty.
(1)The department shall adopt rules imposing a permit system for the transportation of sheep within or out of the state if it finds that a permit system is necessary to prevent theft of sheep. The rules must establish fees commensurate with the department's cost of operating the permit system.
(2)A person who purposely or knowingly transports sheep in violation of rules adopted under subsection (1) is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $1,000 or imprisonment in the county jail for a term not exceeding 6 months, or both.
