The department shall in its licensure of hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, and abortion facilities give special attention to infection control practices and shall direct hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, and abortion facilities to set quantifiable measures of performance for reducing the incidence of nosocomial infections in Missouri. The department shall prepare an annual report on infection control standards and compliance, which shall be shared with the governor and the general assembly.
