No member of the life sciences research board shall be employed by any public or private not-for-profit entity entitled to receive financial support from the life sciences research trust fund, or participate in the making of any decision by the board to make any grant to the board member, any person who is related to the board member within the fourth degree of consanguinity or affinity, any public entity for which the board member serves as an officer, director, or other member of the entity's governing body, or any private entity for which the board member or the member's spouse is employed, serves as an officer, director, or other member of the entity's governing body.
