Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the department of conservation shall continue to contribute toward monthly costs for insurance benefits to cover medical expenses for each uniformed agent in the protection division receiving disability benefits for a job related illness or injury pursuant to the provisions of section 104.518 the same amount which would have been contributed by the state on such person's behalf if on active service as a uniformed agent. The reimbursement shall continue as long as the uniformed agent is receiving disability benefits.
