Subdivision 1.Requirement. Every health maintenance contract, which in addition to covering the enrollee also provides coverage to the spouse, dependent children, which is defined as required by section62A.302, and former spouse who was covered on the day before the entry of a valid decree of dissolution of marriage, of the enrollee shall:

(1)permit the spouse, former spouse, and dependent children to elect to continue coverage when the enrollee becomes enrolled for benefits under title XVIII of the Social Security Act (Medicare); and (2) permit the dependent children to continue coverage when they cease to be dependent children under the generally applicable requirement of the plan.
