Subdivision 1.Definitions. The following definitions apply to this section:

(a)"Political subdivision" means a county, a statutory or home rule charter city, a town, a school district, or other political subdivision of the state. Political subdivision includes a political subdivision acting individually or jointly as provided under section471.59.
(b)"Corporation" means a corporation created by a political subdivision before May 31, 1997, in which (i) the corporation's articles of incorporation or bylaws provide for the governing body of the political subdivision to serve as a corporation's governing board;
(ii)the articles of incorporation or bylaws provide for appointed officials of the political subdivision or members of the governing body of the political subdivision or both to be a
